About

As a pharmacist who handles pharmaceuticals, I believe that I can contribute to the safe and appropriate implementation of pharmacotherapy by working to solve problems related to pharmacotherapy that are piling up in the medical field from the specialized field of pharmacology, generating necessary data, and providing feedback to clinical practice.

In the Department of Clinical Pharmacy, we conduct research to identify problems related to various pharmacotherapies in the medical field from the viewpoint of pharmacists, and to examine solutions to these problems. In addition to joint research with hospital pharmacists and physicians, we are also actively engaged in joint research with basic research laboratories, aiming to solve problems in the medical field from both basic and medical pharmacology perspectives.

In addition, the department is based at Kitasato University Medical Center (KMC) in Kitamoto City, Saitama Prefecture, where all faculty members also work as hospital pharmacists, providing student education and research guidance from the perspective of pharmacists while taking into account the latest medical conditions. In addition to dispensing prescriptions, pharmacists are stationed in all wards and are actively involved in the drug treatment of patients together with doctors and nurses. We also participate in the Diabetes Care Support Team, the Nutritional Support Team (NST), the Infection Control Team (ICT), the Palliative Care Team (PCT), the Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT), etc. One of the features of our department is that we can observe the work of pharmacists up close.

It is our hope that students will acquire a strong sense of ethics as a medical professional, communication skills, the ability to find problems and solve them, and the desire to continue learning throughout their lives (self-improvement) through their studies and research life at the university.
